Tammy

Tammy – Clarinet

How long have you been playing and when did you start? (School, age, etc.)
Played in elementary school 5th grade through high school band as well as Mankato Area 77 Marching Band (summer).

Have you played continuously, or did your instrument gather dust in the closet for several years? What brought you back?
My old instrument gathered dust mites in the closet for 25 years. My daughter played clarinet in 8th grade, so I decided to make use of the new instrument now. I long for “community” and hope to meet and eventually talk with everyone in the band. It’s fun to meet new people.

What do you like about playing in Northern Winds?
Playing in Northern Winds is fun because we have so much amazing talent. I hope to live up to Northern Winds standards by strengthening my embouchure, controlling dynamics and gaining speed with lots and lots of practice.

Anything else you would like to include: Current employment, school, (music degree), retirement, family—whatever you would like known about you!!
I have two teenage children: 1 girl and 1 boy. I graduated from MN State University, Mankato in 2001 with a B.S. in Business and moved to Bloomington in 2002. I’m still looking for that full-time career with benefits. In the meantime, I’m raising my children, working short-term contract jobs, and having so much fun playing in the Northern Winds Concert Band.
